On September 29 , Teamsters Local 618 marched with Michigan Nurses from Local 332 in Flint, Michigan. Registered nurses from Ascension Health’s Genesys Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich. rallied outside of Ascension Health’s corporate headquarters in St. Louis today, where they protested cuts that would alter working conditions and impact direct patient care.

Fred Meyer grocery warehouse workers represented by Teamsters Local 117 have overwhelmingly ratified a 3-year contract that provides health care protections, family wages, and retirement security for 362 workers and their families. The contract vote took place over the weekend. Over 95% of the members casting ballots voted to approve the proposed settlement.

Teamsters Local 71 had a successful Red Cross abuse of employees’ public awareness day at the Charlotte Motor Speedway for the Bank of America 500 race that was held October 15, 2011.  As Red Cross Workers were educating the public with leaflets, a plane with a banner that read “RED CROSS RACING TO DISASTER” was flying over for several hours.
